recycling is a habit i’m trying to build in me. this is one of the things i did- wrapping a gift for a friend using recycled materials. the flowers are from an old wreath we used in a fairy photo shoot, the shredded paper from a gift i received before, and the japanese paper’s from one of the boxes lying around containing stuff of all sorts.if my memory serves me right this paper is some 4 years old already.the stick attached to the gift card’s from one of those lollipops i had a few days before christmas 2011 break.
i call this a poor woman’s pasta and it’s my all-time favorite. it’s savory, refreshing and healthy (vegetarian ). to make, heat olive oil and saute garlic until translucent.add chopped fresh tomatoes and cook for 30 seconds, then add cooked pasta.season with salt and pepper ( cayenne pepper for great kick ) and just before removing from heat add chopped fresh basil.
i wish i could say that of myself or maybe hear someone tell me that but no this isn’t about me at all….
i tossed and turned in bed last night.went down to get ice water ( very unlikely for me to do at half before 3 a.m.), changed shirt two times until i decided to wear none. i ended up sleeping in my beach attire. it was so hot not even the open window and fan at speed number three could do it for me.
i easily get cold. i can’t sleep well in an air conditioned room, and a fan directed at me would be fine for the first couple or so hours but but not longer or i’ll begin to have chills. even at room temp i use a blanket. i pretty much a high tolerance for heat so you can imagine how last night’s temp was abnormally hot. it took its toll on me.i’m now walking around with puffy, hot eyes because of utter lack of sleep.
And here it is! Fresh cod filet in an onion, bell pepper and coconut milk sauce with squid. This is a typical Brazilian dish called “moqueca”. It also has some oil from Brazil called “dende oil”, which is a kind of palm that has a very particular taste. I found it in the Brazilian store we have close to our place in Silver Spring.
It was really good, and we have enough leftovers for lunch!
